Introduction:
I guarantee ever since one stepped foot in the gym, they've been told to squat. If one has small legs they've been told to squat and if one has a small upper body they've also been told to squat. It seems like the answer to everything in the gym is too squat, when in reality squatting is just downright dangerous and a bad exercise to do depending on one's body type.
Listen To Your Body:
Too many times I have seen people squat and not get any results from it, even though they have the perfect body type for squats. One should listen to their body, if they do not feel a certain exercise, then they should simply not do it, and they should stop wasting time on it. They should then simply just move on and find a better exercise to do.
Squatting and Tall People:
If one is tall like me, then one should notice that squats do not build any leg muscles at all. When I used to squat ass to grass I realized that I was leaning forward way to much for squats to be an effective exercise. This brought my lower back muscles into the exercise and I got no leg involvement at all. No matter how hard I tried, I still kept leaning forward when doing squats, even if I was doing the bar alone. This made me conclude that squatting was not made for me, and I simply did the right thing by listening to my body and choosing a better exercise to do that made my legs grow.
Squatting and Short People:
I believe that short people should squat because their body type is well suited for it. When they squat they do not lean forward as tall people would do when squatting. When short people squat their bodies are straight and the most muscle involvement can be achieved
Dorian Yates vs Arnold Schwarzenegger:
Compare Dorian Yates and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dorian Yates quickly learned that his body type is not suited for squats and it is not the hype that it is claimed to be. Arnold Schwarzenegger on the other hand still continued to squat, both had access to steroid. However Dorian Yates had access to growth hormone. The result was that Dorian's legs where far better developed than Arnold's because he listened to his body and chose better exercises to do other than squatting.
