near the birth of my third child, I realized that I needed a change. Much as I love to meet with my children, I took a real toll on my face. Sitting on the couch, eating chips with my children, I became a true "couch potato." It was time for me to do what so many other women - Join the gym!
Reluctantly, I went to the local gym and I paid for a one month subscription. A commitment of one month was all that I am willing to consider. I walked into the locker room and put on my "sweat". (The good thing about the gym is that you get to go in pajamas.)
I went to the gym and I found a big surprise. My friends were there. I'm on a treadmill with my friends, and Peggy Sue. For twenty minutes we talked and talked. We talk about our children, our homes, our jobs (to be) and all the local gossip. From there I went to the gym every morning. Twenty minutes turned into twenty, thirty, and finally an hour. It was nice to play music in the background and there is always someone to talk to. He lost those extra pounds and finally I got these endless hours of "couch potato" watching TV.
Then one day, everything changed. The gym has been modernized. They managed individual TVs in front of each machine. Each person wearing a helmet and select fifty different television channels. At first I was very excited. We could choose movies, talk shows, games, series and loads more. The choices were endless. I started my daily walk on the treadmill, but something was wrong. Zapping is supposed to do on her couch eating chips. Where were Sue, Peggy and all my other friends? Each was absorbed in his own show.
Like many other things. It is just not the same without friends. So now I'm back on my couch, surfing and eating chips.
