Wake Up, America! Your Breakfast (And Every Other Meal) Is Full Of Chemicals!

Look around you. ADHD, allergies, Alzheimer's disease, autism, cancer, obesity, Parkinson's, and a number of other conditions and diseases have skyrocketed in the United States. As a researcher and concerned father / uncle of children with allergies and ADHD, I set out to discover the source (s) of this epidemic. After scouring thousands of pages of resources and studies, it is my belief that pesticides and other chemicals in our food, as well as many genetic modification (GM) foods are the main culprits.

One of the studies was more shocking to me was the one by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and the Red Cross. Umbilical cords have 10 randomly after being cut and tested for chemical exposure. What they found was horrific: 287 chemicals ranging from pesticides ingredients in consumer products, as well as waste coal and burning gasoline. Most of these chemicals are known or suspected of causing cancer and problems of development and contain toxins that can harm the brain and nervous system. If these chemicals were in the cord blood of a newborn, imagine the chemical content of a mature adult.

There are a handful of reasons that have consumed chemical cocktails for decades. First, busy schedules led to a significant increase in the use of processed foods. Second, the misrepresentation of the food industry (and less time for us to study and understand them) and poor government oversight, in some cases, have led many Americans to believe that some "low fat" or "natural" food (insert one of dozens of requests for labels for food) are healthier, when in fact there are so many half-truths, deficiencies and gaps in the guidelines the food label USDA and FDA. Finally, focus on corporate profits rather than the needs and long-term health of consumers are also to blame. The use of pesticides and genetically modified foods and food additives, such as preservatives, artificial sweeteners and flavors additives, food and other fillers are used to increase food production, to prolong life and reduce costs while increasing profitability. Corporate profits is not a bad thing, but the way the beneficiary of the food industry in direct opposition to our health and well-being is worrying is pursued.

So what is going untreated, pesticides and genetically modified foods? Much research is needed to find out why artificial sweeteners are bad or understand the dangers of food additives, preservatives and pesticides. Without going into too many details, which are synthetic chemicals that are added to food that is known to cause health problems or lack of sufficient studies to understand the long-term safety of using these chemicals. The FDA and USDA seem to use the approach of the legal system "innocent until proven guilty" to approve the chemicals in our food, which is shocking to me, especially when you look at the number of chemicals are used in the United States, but banned everywhere.

The good news is that we can all take steps to impose long-term changes in our diet, and should be done to improve our long-term health. In this day and today's age of technology (both medical and information) and understanding of health, exercise and medicine, life expectancy should not be declining in the United States, but are.

Here is a list of things you can do:

*1 Do your homework on what is in your food
You need to spend time to read and understand the ingredients of the food label. The marketing claims on the front of packaging is often misleading and empty. I suggest taking the time to study the failures and gaps in the guidelines of the FDA food label. Understand the many chemicals in our food, where they come from and what independent research says about them is very important.

*2 Vote with your wallet
Eat whole foods and avoid processed foods, which are full of dangerous chemicals. Tagged eating fruits, vegetables and other products to avoid pesticides. If it's not organic, at least whatsoever without GMOs. Avoid chemicals in cleaning and personal care. The higher the demand for foods free of chemicals and consumer products, the less it will cost everyone to send a message to food producers do not want their chemical experiments in our food and personal care products. They understood our concerns if it hurts their bottom lines.

*3 Share knowledge
There are many people who think they eat healthy (I was one of them) because they eat fruits and vegetables, but there is more to the story they do not know. We hope this article has given you a warning and you learn more and to take positive action to improve health. Others will appreciate to do the same for them.

*4 Support Legislation
It can only be political. I was not for many years, but then I realized that despite my disgust and apathy by the political process, our legislators made laws that affected me (often negative) despite my participation. The lobby of the food industry is very powerful and constantly used his influence to pass legislation to improve their business at the expense of our health. Participate in local efforts to support GMO labeling, disposal of hazardous pesticides and other chemicals in our foods, and greater control over label marketing, among other areas.
We need to get our food supply. While politicians allow these companies to pump profitable but dangerous chemicals in our food, we are huge risk.
